Pediatric Low Grade Astrocytomas are the most common form of children's brain tumor. PLGA kids need you!
fightPLGA on Campus
Students from across the country are uniting to join the PLGA community to raise money and increase awareness for the most common form of childhood brain tumor.
College Students Start a PLGA Student Movement:
With the support of students campus wide, the first fightPLGA college chapter was launched at Boston University (BU) in 2006. The first year was dedicated to spreading the word about the PLGA cause, building partnerships with other student groups on campus, and raising funds. The response on BU campus was overwhelming. Sororities rallied to make PLGA their cause, soccer and basketball teams held fundraising events, Marketing Association sponsored a 5K run and casino night. In total over $35,000 was raised by this committed group of college students.
By 2008, BU students were joined by the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater's, American Marketing Association, St. Mary's University, and University of Pennsylvania as partners in uniting student campuses across the country.
What's next? High School students AND additional college campuses:
High school and college groups/students joining the PLGA community have the opportunity to take the skills they have learned in the classroom and apply them in their communities. Imagine testing out new marketing ideas, philanthropic strategies, financial planning skills in a safe, friendly, 'real' world environment....where your efforts would not only benefit the student, but kids suffering from life threatening brain tumors as well!
Students are in a unique position, surrounded by many like-minded and kindhearted individuals comfortable, to be able to leverage their knowledge of internet tools like Facebook and Firstgiving.org to increase fundraising with the multiplier effect. Whether you are a member of a social, athletic, religious, political, academic or other group on campus, YOU can make a difference by supporting PLGA fundraising and awareness.
Our Goal: To become the FIRST student led cooperative to raise $1 million dollars for a children's philanthropy
Just think, if just 96 additional high schools and/or college campuses join the existing 4 student led groups in the fight, each raising $10,000, we will reach our goal of $1 million dollars by the end of 2008.

How to start your own PLGA fundraising club:
Starting a PLGA fundraising club is easy with the support of the PLGA Foundation. We will help you set up a website, introduce you to the fundraising tools that have been proven to be successful, and be available for coaching every step of the way.
Please send us a message through the contact form and we will get back to you shortly.
Fundraise now:
One way quick and easy way to start fundraising now is to help spread the word to your friends and family about PLGA's Color For A Cure. The goal of this website is to raise $1 million dollars, $1 dollar at a time. If each visitor to the website donates JUST $1, and then emails the website to 20 friends who each donate $1 and they email the site to 20 of their friends, and so on, STUDENTS can help spread the word and 'light the fire' for finding kinder/gentler treatments and a cure for kids suffering from brain tumors.
